Rudy Morad (Groupama-FDJ) has the overall lead at the Tour of Spain after finishing fourth on stage five going into Bilbao.
The Frenchman was part of a large breakaway group that led most of the stages that Marc Soller (UAE Emirates) won. Soler ended a two-year drought in Spain with his stage victory. Before the stage, the last Grand Tour stage win was in 2020.
Yesterday’s stage winner Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) was nearly five minutes behind Soler at home, meaning he would hand over the overall winner’s red jersey to the Groupama-FDJ driver.
Victor Longlotti (Burgos-BH) took over the King of the Mountains jersey with a total of 13 points. Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) still leads the points race with 127 points and Wright is now the best young driver.
